Finally made it to an Olympic event - the Men's Marathon. Had to awaken pretty darn early to beat the rush, but made it in the end, finding a good view just by the Tower Bridge. The athletes ran three laps of the course and finished in the same time that it took me to run a half-marathon last year... Some of the athletes were just machines. Good to see the Africans once again dominating the long distance stuff.
Watched the Closing Ceremony tonight, but found it boring to be perfectly honest... And I don't know how the organisers got away with playing the same One Direction song twice. Enough complaining from me.
Off to Norwich tomorrow to check out my university before I start there on September 19. Then to Cambridge, and Bletchley Park - where my grandma worked during the war to crack the German Enigma code. Should be back in London on the 17th, in time for my departure to Munich on the 23rd.
Below are some of my snaps from the final day of the Olympics. Now for those that don't understand selfies, please don't read into it too much.
Churr.
The top three about 2/3 through the race. |
Bet NZ Herald snapped a shot from here. |
My Official Olympic Marathon selfie. |
Just checking out Hyde Park. Very close to Princess Diana's memorial here.. would have taken photos but it was swarmed by kids.. |
Arguably the best department store in London. Home to the $280,000 watch. |
