I arrived in London utterly knackered from my flight and time in Dubai. It was a breeze crossing the border in Heathrow, making it through in about 20 minutes... so much for all the media hype. I caught the overground to King's Cross station and arrived way earlier than expected at my family friend's home in Camden Town (a few houses away from where Amy Winehouse died).
First impressions of London were pretty high, apart from the two random fights that broke out around me. Went to all the mainstream tourist spots including Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and 'the Shard'. Sadly I have no friends here as of yet lol, so I had to ask strangers to take my photos (if anyone in the UK is reading this, and is between the age of 19 and 25, let's be friends please).
Checked out the main Olympic spot yesterday, but was caught short as I assumed I could pick up an Olympic Park ticket at the venue - but apparently they can only be bought online with a Visa card... It was insanely crowed in the shopping area adjacent to the park, and some chum tried (unsuccessfully) to steal the contents of my backpack. It was a good wakeup call so since then I've been pretty damn vigilant.
Loved checking out Oxford Circus and all the action around there - some stunning old buildings filled with classy shops. Caught the tube and bus each day - pretty expensive, but a bloody good service.
I made an effort to visit New Zealand House today, but disappointingly they were no welcoming nor willing to give me an informal tour - and the receptionist was British!
Off to Glasgow tomorrow to visit some cousins, then to Edinburgh, and back home to London on the 6th or 7th.
Will keep you posted. Enjoy the photos. Churr xoxoxoxo
